It will not have escaped many peoples attention that doctors are in the headlines again following the awful events in Glasgow and London last week.
An article in the Evening Standard on Friday seems to attack IMGs for taking over UK graduates jobs whilst home grown graduates are left unemployed. This type of argument is divisive, dangerous and does nothing to sort out the problems faced by everyone in this workforce crisis. RemedyUKs’ position on this is that all doctors in the United Kingdom who are eligible for employment deserve to be treated fairly and with respect no matter what their background or training. In every walk of life or career there is good and bad. We must not lose sight of the issues here that the problems we have suffered over the past few months are nothing to do with IMGs but with the Government and the Department of Health. We work together, we train together and so let us stand together in facing this problem. RemedyUK Team |
