 | | According to a post on a medical blog, the two Deans involved in the 'Scottygate' case are to be investigated by the GMC. The case revolves around the suspension of a junior doctor from Inverness who had criticised a member of the medical establishment in rather strong language. It appears that the GMC complaint has now passed the initial screeners and has been passed on to the Investigation stage. In the complaint, it was claimed that the action of the two Deans was "completely disproporionate and an abuse of power" and asked that their actions be investigated for bullying and harrasment. |
There has been a great deal of talk about this case in the blogs and online chat fora, but some of the true facts remain shrouded in mystery. If this investigation is carried out in public then we might discover what really happened. In particular it might discover the sequence of events regarding the second suspension. It has been alleged that the Aberdeen Deanery dug up some minor dirt from Dr Scott's past. It has also been alleged that the Deanery exercised some influence over the local processes in the Inverness Trust. Whether or not these accusations are true remains the subject of much speculation. Perhaps the GMC will find out. |
